1. Tell us about your background before Autoyaar. Share with us briefly about your entrepreneurial journey and inception of Autoyaar.
In today’s world of multitasking, everybody is bound to prioritize their chores. And when that happens, activities which are seemingly unimportant, but vital take a backseat. One common thing that bears the brunt of this is our vehicle. An oil change waits till our engine conks off. That battery recharge waits until our vehicle stops dead suddenly or rather just a missed scheduled maintenance till the potential financial pinch of it makes us weep.
To be fair, it isn’t always carelessness on our part that damages our vehicles. Factors like when and which services are necessary, which service provider is reliable, which is value for money, who offers pick and drop, and a lot more plays along.
A quest to find a solution to these glitches was within four friends; Bharat Ostwal, Sunil Gupta, Amisha Shah & Abhishek Gupta and what they found was a magic word-
‘Autoyaar.com’ which got launched in mid October2015.
2. What is Autoyaar all about? Tell us in detail about the services offered.
Autoyaar is an online marketplace and a one stop solution for Two Wheeler & Four Wheeler servicing. Car & Bike Service and Repairs, Car Spa, Accidental Repair, tires, Batteries and a lot of other after sale services can be availed through Autoyaar.com. With our network of verified service providers and facilities likepick-up & drop-off , service advising, online payments, re-repair guarantees, post service support we ensure high quality services with competitive pricing. It’s an easy and hassle free way of getting your automobiles serviced.
Autoyaar aims to bridge the gap between customers and the service providers making it easy for them to plan and manage their bookings efficiently.
With our simple processes, authentic data; user friendly interface and a passionate team we aim to improve customer experience through convenience and transparency.
3. What is your competition in the market? What is it that sets you apart from your competition?
Autoyaar stands out amidst all others as we are the only platform in that not only caters to both; two and four wheeler segment, but also provides services as well end to end solution.
Also Autoyaar is looking at providing convenience not only to the customers but also to the service providers. We aim to bridge the gap between customers and the service providers making it easy for them to plan and manage their bookings efficiently.
4. What were the challenges you had to face while setting up and scaling your enterprise?
Automobile servicing is all about expertise. Veterans having vast knowledge in this domain exists in the market and for years together have been operating in an extremely traditional way. Educating the service providers due to the absence of any such service, platform or model existing the market was our biggest challenge.
Reluctance towards adopting a digital platform as well as standardization, particularly in rates and services. Though to our surprise about 80% of the workshops associated with for online bookings where known to be digitally comfortable.
The process was very time consuming as each service provider had to be visited personally to ensure that there is extreme accuracy .
Shortlisting the best of these for our online booking models was another challenge as we have been very specific about our selection basis an exhaustive list of predefined criteria.
5. What is the business model of Autoyaar? Can you briefly summarize the growth achieved in both volume and value from the day 1 till now?
Autoyaar’s target audience is anybody and everybody who owns a two or a four wheeler. Launched in Ahmedabad we have expanded our services in Pune as well. We are already receiving a great response and it has been encouraging. We have signed up with more than 110 service providers which include big names like Bosch Car Service, CarzSpa, Castrol Pitstop, as well as authorized service providers. More than 1550 customers have availed our services till date and the number is increasing with every passing day.
We are monetizing through Commission Fees from the Service Providers.

Desc: Shrewd business acumen, experience in sales and marketing, management skills and attention to detail, aggressivego-getter.

Desc: Livewire, natural leader, excellent interpersonal and management abilities, amateur golfer, reader and gym enthusiast
7. How are you funded? Any early stage money/seed stage experience that you would like to share with us?
We are currently bootstrapped, working with funds contributed by the founders. We are succuessfully running our business in Ahmedabad and have now expanded our services to Pune as well. We are already in the process of initiating talks for raising funds with a few angel investors. These funds will be utilized for geographical expansions to major metro cities in the coming few months. The monies will also be used for technology as well as marketing.
8. Any other areas or initiatives you plan to venture in future?
We are currently operational in Ahmedabad & Pune and we plan to expand to Mumbai, Delhi & Hyderabad in the next 12 months. Apart from automobile servicing, we will have Road Side Assistance, Insurance, Auto-Inspection and a few other services added to our platform. We will also be launching our application in the coming few months.
9. What will Autoyaar look like in 10 years from now? All perspectives – people, business, revenues, team, size or anything you foresee for the venture.
Autoyaar is unifying this unorganized automobile service industry into a single organized platform. With a passionate team, a go-getter attitude, a unique idea and tremendous market potential we believe our small idea is all set to change the face of automobile servicing industry.

10. Any school/ campus-connect initiatives that you are pursuing or plan to pursue?
We have been hiring a couple of interns to help learn with us from campuses in our city. This helps us get a fresh perspective to our processes as well as gets them accustomed to how start ups operate. It helps them eneter the real world of start ups and clear all their apprehensions. Its our constant endeavour to encourage entreprenuership amoungst the fresh blood.
11. Any experience or advice you would like to share with soon to be start-up founders out there?
Don’t see the hardship in the decision you take, see the opportunities and learning’s from the journey. If in doubt try it. Kill that curiosity; it will give life to a new thought.
